Forsaken Vows

Penance can’t save you when all you crave is sin

We were each other’s first love – and neither of us repented of that sin
Fifteen years ago, I ran to God to escape the woman I loved. I gave up everything to become a priest – my wealth, my freedom, and all ties to Linnea. Tucked away in the peaceful countryside, I serve God and lead my faithful flock.

Then tragedy strikes my parish, and everything begins to fall apart. My nights are haunted, my prayers interrupted by visions, and my parish crumbles.

When Linnea walks into my church wearing a habit, I know why God is punishing me. The Devil’s spawn can’t put on a habit and pretend to be His servant. I have to cast this evil out of my parish and God’s grace before she burns everything to the ground – including me.

But every moment in her presence, every forbidden touch, shreds my resolve. The more I test her faith, the more my own withers away.
Because she’s always been my damnation.
And penance can’t save you when you crave the sin.
